Management Accounts - Good quality and accurate management accounts are crucial to the effective running of a business or organisation. If you have accounts staff but need some additional input into management reporting, I can assist with the design of an accounts pack. Alternatively, I can prepare your Management Accounts on a regular basis.
Business Plans - having a business plan is essential for any business, in particular when the need to secure additional investment is required or to satisfy the needs of stakeholders. With extensive experience of investment modelling and short to long term planning, I can transform your ideas into a coherent plan.
KPIs - Every business needs some measures (both financial and non-financial) to monitor the activity levels on a daily / weekly or longer term basis. I have extensive experience in identifying KPIs to assist in the management of a business and to incorporate into business plans. Following identification of the appropriate measures, consideration also needs to be given to collecting the relevant data. Depending on the size of the business, this could range from manual data capture to something moreautomated. I have designed systems to facilitate this process.
Project Work - Very often staff are too busy with the "day job" to have enough time to devote to any projects needed to take your business to the next level. If you require additional accounting resource either on a project or on-going basis, I can help relieve the pressure either by working as part of an existing team or on an individual basis.
Excel VBA - Do you need to automate a particular task? Or perhaps you are manually collecting data but finding consistency is a problem. In either case, any many more, using excel VBA may be the anwser. Requiring a user to complete a form ensures consisency of format and can be built onto an existing spreadsheet. I have designed several systems from process stock valuation to collecting of timesheet data as well as other time-saving applications. Before embarking on an expensive off the shelf solution, a VBA solution can be used to help provide a detailed specification of what is required.
Process Efficiency - Does it seem like there is a disproportionate amount of time being spent on simple tasks? As a business expands or changes, there is often a tendency for the administrative function to continue as they always have. From a review of the existing processes to the automation of excel tasks, I can free up staff from repetitive tasks leaving more time for value added activities
System Implementation - as a business grows, the systems used need to be reassessed to ensure that relevant data can be captured and statutory requirement met. I have experience in the implementation of both operational and financial systems from specifying requirements through to designing of reports. Most recently have been the Finance Project Manager for the implementation of Navision 2018 financials for a medium sized business
Training - Understanding the finances, how systems should be used and why things have to be done in a certain way, helps everyone involved in a business and it's administration to fulfil their roles to the best of their ability. I offer bespoke training to suit your needs from "finance for non-financial managers" to spreadsheet and administrative training.
Internal Audit - Unlike external audit which focuses on the reliability and material accuracy of the published accounts, internal audit is more concerned with the controls that are in place. The appropriate level of control will change as the size of a business changes and it is important that processes and systems evolve at the same time. Whether an overall review is overdue or you have some specific concerns relating to any ares of your business, I can offer support on a regular or short term basis. I have a track record in improving processes in response to issues and have been involved number of investigations into manipulation of reported results.
